i wish improving postional play is just as easy as improving tactical play

to me finding a way to improve your tactics is easy, you hop in a puzzle lichess gives you or some chess website does, calculate variation after variation until you finally found the best move, and finally you play the moves and move on, but i don't know how to improve positional play

Stop attacking so much with one or two pieces and find some way to involve more, if not, ALL of the pieces.

The move ...Bxc3?? is positionally bad. You activate his bishop and remove your active bishop.

Stop making terrible trades. That will improve your positional play.

Oh freaking great. Another tpr.

Shallow, pedantic. Terrible.

In other words, popular.

It’s really difficult. Some books may help. I love Karpov’s “my best games”, Pachman’s “Modern strategy”, and also Petrosian’s and Bornstein’s books.
Nowadays I think Carlsen is the best positional player, The modern Capablanca.

I believe the single best way to improve positional play is to play games with long time controls and analyse them thoroughly. Whenever you're done with a game, first enumerate your thoughts about where you think you went wrong and what you should have done instead, and then check it with the engine. Pay a lot of attention to the moves you thought were good but Stockfish dislikes. Play out some variations, use the "play against the computer" feature if you don't like the moves that Stockfish suggests and you feel like you can show it what's wrong with its moves.
