I created a correspondence game in order to play with a friend and noticed I cannot alter it. Now someone has joined but I do not want to play them. How do I gracefully back out and not start the match. I'm new to this site.

I guess you should be able to abort it.

OK, how do I or where do I go to "abort" it, as I can't see and menu links that allow me to do this. Please provide the specific details on how to.

If there is an X on the user interface that should mean abort.

Thank you for trying, but I could not find an X on the user interface for that chess match and since 2 days elapsed without a move, I lost. I am trying to create a correspondence game with a friend of mine that is a user on this medium.
So how do I create a correspondence game in order to play with a selected person of my choice. I don't want to create another game because it appears it goes live and whomever sees it can jump in. Any details on how to do this would be appreciated.
So basically, I want to create a correspondence game to play with a person of my choosing.

So, you search for the player's name and go to their profile page. The hamburger offers a drop-down menu which includes challenging that person. You can set the type, the time control and choose either colour or random colour.

I think you can create a challenge.

Hi Hedgehog1963, Thank you so much for your detailed response. I was able to create a correspondence game and send the link to my friend.
One more question, if I select 2 day correspondence, is that maximum of 2 days per move OR 2 days to complete the game?

maximum of 2 days per move
Technically speaking, it's two days per half move. You get two days to make your move; then the opponent gets two days to make their move. Those two together are considered "move 1".

@Skier7767 Note that if you put @ in front of a username, it alerts that user to their being mentioned in a post. It's a good thing I checked anyway.
2 days means you have 48 hours in which to make your move. Your opponent then has the same. A very comfortable time control.
