Chess was invented in India during the Gupta Empire in 6th century AD (1500 years ago) Chess was known as chaturaṅga at that time.

Thats what i lerned as well.

Funny nzz, the new zurich newspaper(official translated title) hat an article about the WC Match were they stated "China the birthplace of chess"
