Today marked my first tournament with the monthly Lichess classical tournament 8 points and placed 5`10 out of 2300 participants (naturally some if not a ton didn't actually play but a placement is a placement lol). I never knew I would match against more higher rated players (300+) since I saw a lot of players on my level (1100/1200). I had a blast and actually learned a bit although I am definitely hitting the books/videos, also I actually stood a chance against slightly higher rated players I faced (keep in mind I won 3 games and drew the few others to get a final score of 8 points), and I also drew a winning game :((( (I later learned that during the analysis). Its competing like this that brings me to play the game win or lose all games have their good qualities (I blundered and gave mate in 1 in a decisive game but he left lol).
Thank you Lichess for having these classical tourneys so that I can get over my fear of playing normal ladder and compete!
