Faking Puzzle rating

Hi everyone,

I love lichess a lot, except one thing, it is possible to increase your chess puzzle rating by choosing specific puzzles (like mate in 1 or 2 etc) and that gives chance to students/players to increase their ratings. I think it should not be rated if players choses specific puzzles. Rated puzzles should be only Healthy Mix.
Only because of that I can not assign students chess puzzle homework.
I really want it be fixed by moderators/admins.

Lichess website deserves a lot! Please everyone donate to this website, it changed and impacted a lot to students and coaches.

I have done quite a lot of #3 puzzles. And yes, it brings some points... but with higher rating, you usually get only marginal points, or even zero on easier ones. And then you get one wrong and you lose like 20+ at once.

It's much quicker to cheat your way up with other means. And don't forget - the puzzle ratings count for absolutely nothing.

Why don't you use chesstempo instead of lichess? It also has timed puzzles with a rating.

It does not make much sense anyway to do puzzle homework since it is not timed and there are various other ways to cheat like simply not solving a hard puzzle or using an engine and over time a student will figure out how to do it.

Thatnks for the tip. Chesstempo is also great for puzzles. Is there way to add students and monitor their progress, is there classrooms etc?

Since we use lichess for matches, lesson etc. It would make much sense if we use lichess puzzles. Yes, thanks for mentioning that the other thing in lichess is you can make it easier etc.

I assigne students puzzles and set a goal before going to the real chess tournaments.

Recently, found another website stepchess.com I think has puzzles and possible to create a club and add students

I agree that playing themes like Mate in 1 can give you a higher rating compared to Healthy Mix. But I think there are good reasons to play certain puzzle themes rated, because then you have some measurements of progress for THIS particular theme. You just can't compare players' puzzle ratings when they play different themes. (But this also applies to the same puzzle theme when players use different amounts of time to think.) Your puzzle rating is a feedback to yourself, it's not a competition against anyone other than yourself.

If you don't like that specific puzzle themes are rated, you can switch to unrated when playing them. But why remove the option to choose for other players? If some people really want to fake their rating, then they will play Healthy Mix with the highest difficulty level and just use an engine.

Chesskid website is great to track students progress and selected puzzle themes are automatically not rated, only Mix puzzles rated. But chesskid is not free :(

"Monitoring" your students based upon untimed Puzzles seems a bit silly anyway...
