how to get out of a bad chess slump

got in a bad slump, cant make sense of positions, hang pieces, get defeated easily. I was like 1800+ rapid and 2000 in puzzles. Should I:

  • quit chess for a while
    . stop making puzzles.
  • play it through but quit puzzles
  • keep solving puzzles but quit games

I decided to get good at puzzles for tactical improving before studying some openings, now i solve quite reasonably, but feel awkward on real games.... help plz

@josecaz this does not qualify as a chess slump. You dropped 50-100 points?
That happens to everyone. It is part of rating variance.
Just keep studying like normal and provided you are trying, the problem will eventually solve itself. A rea slump would be losing like 200-250 points. That happened to me in bullet once, but I came out of it after like a month.

It starts to happen and then we panic and it goes faster haha! When we are "tilted" best to take a break. I obsess over the causes of such variances and it is not useful!

Sometimes new studying confuses old strategies that worked fine at a certain level. It takes time to integrate new ideas...

@ChessMathNerd its not how much i lose, but the way I do: utter lack of imagination, hung pieces, thorough defeat with people rated like 300-400 points below... anyway, I dont want to sound like a crybaby i will just cheer out of it, lol

@josecaz , STOP WASTING YOUR TIME TRYING TO LEARN POSITIONS OR OPENINGS, YOU CAN MASTER ENDGAME THOUGH.
THEN TRY AND FOCUS ON YOUR TACTICS, FIND BEST MOVES IN PUZZLES USING THE TACTICS YOU LEARN.
AND THEN LEARN TO USE THEM IN YOUR GAMES, POSITION JUST MATTERS IN ENDGAME,

Maybe you coul get some fresh air, if you are playing for too long, it will help your brain refresh a little.
