Can I play someone and also have a button to call up what a low level chess engine suggests

a bot can also play casual
and I'm referring to just using the accounts
when to mess with the engine

I have no interest in cheating - I don't get it at all to be honest - maybe at top level where money is involved it makes sense

But at a lower level what honestly is the point - I would just be the monkey in the machine - moving the pieces as told to - getting a higher rating but for what and so what ?
To me it would be a pure waste of time and life
But some must get a buzz out of being that monkey - how - er er er - I have no idea

Much more fun for me to actually play and lose
With ratings we quickly hit our equal opposition and win/lose about 50/50 with every match being about the challenge

This is awful. Why not just lose games until you get better like everyone else?

I often enjoy casual games with friends where we can take back, look at an engine and talk about its recommendations, etc. Obviously, I don't play those on lichess, given TOS, but it's a way to enjoy chess with someone.

Lol
What is awful about it - I cannot think of anything - did you actually read what I was saying ?
But I can think of plenty to enjoy about the process

Maybe enlighten me

So if all the lower rating players could cheat and the higher players couldn't you would think that's fair? No, because that would take away the entire purpose of learning in chess.
At that point, it would just be computer vs. computer.
I agree - that is what I have said - I don't understand the point of cheating - I would just be the monkey in the machine - doing what told - sounds like a very dull job to me even for a monkey

You can cover over the game score plus the engine output at the top.

At the extreme right under the game Window, click Hamburger Menu icon (3 parallel horizontal lines) and a windows opens up over the engine output and the game score. This window includes settings for the engine strength (reduce the resources available to the engine plus the option of showing arrows for the best and second best and an evaluation gauge option on a board etc

Neither of the following seem to suit your needs:
1) You can create a study and set it so that two players or more can be in the study and play a game with analysis on. Click the Menu button to toggle view of the engine analysis (but seems not to like it when you toggle).

2) In a study, you can make a new chapter with the starting board position and Practice with Computer as the analysis mode but even if I degrade the engine resources as much as possible, the engine still seems much too strong for a novice. It does offer a hint if needed and gives positive and negative feedback on each move and you can do a takeback.
