Why do 1+1 players seem better than 1+0?

This might seem like an odd question, but my experience here shows me that I perform about 150-200 grade points better at 1+0 bullet than 1+1. It is possible that I just play better with less time but that seems a little unlikely as I am getting on in years and am not as sharp as I used to be. So 2 questions:

  1. Has anyone else experienced this?

  2. What might explain this?

I feel like 1+1 gives you less pressure, and gives you more time to think because of the increment.

1+1 are for blitz players that are bullet-wannabes

That's true. I wonder if that's my problem: I relax a bit and then use too much of the extra time, and end up with much less time than my opponents at the end. Quite possible.

Fair point, and I do use bullet to try and speed me up for blitz.

I play a bit of 2+1 but I prefer 3+0 or 1+1

It gives the player the ability to burn the fixed time when and where uneasy position he feels like, therefore avoiding blunders and mistakes coming from playing without a plan and still thanks to the +1 dont lose to self-flag.

@nopiensesmucho Yes, that makes sense. So I guess the real question is: why am I so bad at that!
