I would make a rule that you have a option to ‘defeat’ the other player just by clicking on it. BUT you get 1/2 point n zero rating more/less.

I would take out check, checkmate, and stalemate. Sort of like you have to capture the king to win and if you get stalemated you lose since you have to do something that will get your king captured
