Huh draw, I don't like this result...

I mean, this is super GM classical chess. Consensus seems to be that chess is probably drawn unless one side makes mistakes, and modern super GMs make very few mistakes in slow time controls, particularly when they've had six months to prepare in depth against one opponent in particular.

I think you have to look at a lot of these games as being like shadow-boxing. There's no concrete advantage being gained, but the players are probing and testing and seeing how well prepared each other are against this approach or that approach. Also, even when they're both getting through most of the game in prep, it's hardly lightweight stuff - it's not like they're just knocking out a standard theoretical draw and shaking hands.

Like, it's kind of interesting in the bigger picture that Nepo shifted away from the h6 Anti-Marshall on Sunday and played a4 instead, but today he's stuck with the a4 line, whereas Magnus went from responding with Bb7 to Rb8, presumably because they both think there's some possible improvement to white's play in the Bb7 line. Probably not as interesting as both players being out of prep on move 6 in some wildly imbalanced position that leads to a devastating sacrifical attack to win the game for one side or the other, but still kind of interesting in it's own way.
