@AlbertoChueca well your topic contained 'online chess'.

@Wolfram_EP i guess thats proof that something like a neutral search doesnt exist.

you can pay people from a search engine to put your website on top of the list of chess sites just because the website is the first name it appears do not necessarily make it a good site e.g chess.com

@hurryupdude Google claims to not rank search results higher if companies pay for it (an exception are ads but these are marked as such). That is at least true for the classical search.

I searched on Google it came with this:

  1. Chess.com
  2. Lichess
    3.Chess 24

However, Lichess from my opinion is way better than chess.com and I think that google should order it from best to worst website.

@matecheck2006 google itself is not a human and therefore has no opinion on which sites are better or worse than others. it orders them from most popular to least popular.

Independent of search engines the ranking should be based on the following clause: How many people play online chess on that particular site every day?

I liked your article Alberto. Not too long. I'm impressed Lichess is number two. It sure wasn't three years ago when I joined.

I'm not surprised Chess.com is number one. I know most people here love to hate it, but I have a friend that plays on it and seems to like it a lot. All his games are what we would call correspondence. I don't know if that's all Chess. com does or if that's his choice. The tournaments he plays in are different too.
Kind of like a round-robin tournament made up of many rounds of play. but the tournaments may take a year to complete!
