He now has now won the Blitz world championship an incredible 9x times (2009, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) and the rapid world championship 6x times 2014, 2015, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2025).
He has also won the classical world championship match 5 times so if I did the match correctly he has now won the world championships a grand total of 20 times.

Actually he suggested to Norway tv this may be his last. He was doing dreadfully after the first day and only won the final game 2.5 - 1.5. He's going to want to go out on a high having won the rapid and the blitz.
