As a person who's all Lichess friends got banned I want to say this:
Your online friends, can't be close to you. Don't trick yourself, whatever relationship you have with them, they won't be your best friend. In real life, you see them, you hear them and you point out the lie most of the time. Here, in online world, we don't know who we are talking to. They say they are 20, they might be either 10 or 30, how would we know? They say they are male, who knows if thats true? Friends are for fun, not for flexing, as most of you do - creating spam threats such as "Kind_panda is my best friend". Friends are for fun and I truly respect people, who play games with each other, then talk about them. Later on to the friendship you might start talking about more deep things, like how was your day, what did you do and what are your feelings. You might start building teams, communities, or content together. That is the true ONLINE friendship. Real life friendship gives you much more freedom, about what you say, do and share.
Once my friends get banned, I instantly realize they betrayed me. It means they were not honest, and a worse person than I thought, based only, on what their behavior lead to. You have a lot more better stuff to do in real life, just move on and don't even think about the betrayer.
Also I would like to admit, if you were real friends with the person who got banned, you would have many more places to contact them and move on with your friendship, thats what happened in most of my situations. The conclusion is if you are really the best friend of kind_panda, and it hurts you to lose them - you would surely find a place to still keep up the friendship, if you don't - move on with your life.

Yes! I completely agree! I also have had friends who have been banned for cheating. Some were close friends and some were just random people who I thought maybe were potential friends and they just turn out to be total liars (I am NOT pointing out anyone in particular, and neither am I trying to shame anyone for cheating if they have done so).
