I was looking through my games and just remembered this weird encounter i had. So i was playing a regular game and suddenly as both me and my opponent had 3-4 seconds left, game stopped and said it is stalemate. I don't get it, initially, hearing 'game over' sound, i thought it was mate, or even possibly time runout, but no. What's the deal here?

White has no legal moves to play here.
The situation when it's time for a player to make a move and they have no legal moves to play is called a stalemate and immediately ends the game in a draw.

Really? I don't want to be rude, but your question is a direct consequence of playing "ultra-bullet". It's not chess, it is a video game (the same applies to bullet) and you guys have lost the essence of playing chess.
I play bullet because of cheaters, but how do you play chess without knowing the basics of the game?
Stalemate --> a position counting as a draw, in which a player is not in check but cannot move except into check.
You didn't resign because you were looking to flag your opponent or expecting him to commit a mistake, stalemating you (as it happened).
A review of the basics of the game is mandatory, I'm afraid.
Regards.

@Falcon42 but in this position my opponents had all kinds of available moves except his h pawn (which's movement my king blocked). So it's not like he couldnt make a move.

but it's white to move. white doesn't even have an h-pawn.

i don't get it. why did the game end just cause it was my turn? okay i know all i had was king and pawn so in pure chess sense i was smoked but i still had chance of flagging him, hence pocketing win.

ok. which move did you want to make?

i was in such a flagging mode that i wasnt even caring for or calculating moves, it could be anything.

You have no possible moves and your king isn't in check. It is called stalemate and it's a draw.Chess rules say so.

You are playing white pieces. It's your turn. Could you be so kind as to which square you want to displace your King? You can't, can't you? You have been stalemated so the game is drawn.
You were lucky in this game but listen, have you reviewed your moves during the game? All of them are nonsense. So? Chess is not a video game.
