How To Catch a Cheater

So how one catches cheater who only uses SF (or whichever engine able to claculate 5 moves ahead) just for huge blunder checking, like +5? Or if one has set an alarm ring once his opponent does a +3 and more blunder? If he finds winning move he finds, if not he plays all by himself. Now if you give such a ring set to +2 for a GM, in a blitz game many outcomes would be different. So how do you catch such a cheater?

Point is, go play OTB, enjoy it, I don't think it is possible to cheat in blitz OTB or even in rapid. Classical we all know, plenty possibilities to do fishy stuff, so up to you really. Treat online chess as online chess.

I do not think it is possible to ban the cheaters, only the dubious obvious ones get caught, if one is smart - close to impossible. Unless they are titled, and playing plenty OTB games, where certain pattern of a player can be produced using his OTB play, and then comparing to online overperformance could be the case... but of course there always will be talkers: like oh on his couch his is more relaxed, more comfortable, no pressure, no jet lag, or 2D board view is more appealing to him and so on, that's why he suddenly plays like 2700 elo...
I encountered opponents playing like novice for a couple of turns, then disconnect, then come back and play like I never played chess in my life... I just block them. Simple as that. One of them pushed the audacity to even sent some laughing emoticones in the chat...

My last opponent, 2040 rated player, let the clock turned for over 2:30 minutes after such a novice move, making me think that this 2040 rate is made of friends against firends kind of games, or he used a bot here and there to keep that 2000 rate...

Lichess mods are even smarter.

Penalization in percentage form: A good deterrent would be to give a player a harder time to join a tournament when they start looking like prodigies or are borderline to being banned. Send a notification warning with a percentage showing how borderline they are. If they are above or below the norm compared to similar rated peers then a notification could be sent. Slowing down the abnormal ways of cheating will be an improvement. Reducing the compensation time in their games would be a last deterrent before getting banned.

Scan the memory, if an add-on is discovered inform them to disable that add-on or justify what it is doing by submitting in the injected code.

you do understand that you connect to lichess using an internet browser, right? if you are using an internet browser that would allow any site to scan your memory, you should quickly get a new browser, because that is a huge security risk.

Cheats are not going to be operating at your rating level, are they?
@midnightmusicnetwork I don't think you are properly reading other users' explainations or at least you don't understand them.
I repeat: the yours is a noble effort to help. But you don't understand you are suggesting a bad, intrusive method to """catch""" just the simplest cheaters that use full engine for the most part of the game. These are the easy cheaters to catch and there already are way more functional methods to find them. Without even considering the methods to catch more complex cheating behaviors.

People blame on cheating because (except the fact that many time it's easier to blame supposed cheaters instead than your own skills) there is no method to avoid a cheating before it takes place. So someone will always eventually have to play a cheater before Lichess can address that.

Anyway, it doesn't seems you are understanding what are the problematics of your idea. And many people have already tried to explain you. You can find many information online or try to understand, otherwise we're just doing Don Chisciotte with you
