What is your experience with takebacks?

I turned them off. There were a few instances where I liked having them but overall it was a net negative. I always granted them if it appeared to be a mouse slip but then my opponents wouldn't show the same courtesy. Easier just to turn them off.
For me I cancelled taking back after I started playing chess , it’s weird feature and can make u blunder a lot cuz u might think u opponent can accept it , and ur opponent might be very stubborn and just keeps asking for a takeback over and over ... so I highly recommend turning it off
I never ask for a takeback ; I grant them only in unrated games.

Rather, what I notice ( and regret ) is that hardly anyone says "thank you" after I give them a takeback. It is not a question of chess etiquette, but simply of good manners, much more important.
Objection: many disable chat. Then they shouldn't ask, because giving thanks should feel like a duty, I think. They could also thank you after the game with a personal message. Just a simple "thanks".
I have turned them off. They are really annoying.
Before I played even my very first Lichess game, I had turned take backs off. It has never been an issue.
Takebacks are insanely stupid, and if you don't have it on, people will still beg for a draw or something like that.

Just resign will ya.

I know some people are obsessed with their rating, but this is hilarious.
I have disabled them in rated games since pretty much the day I joined Lichess (you can disable them in the preferences). People kept spamming takeback requests after blundering, really p***ed me off. Especially in a rated game, when you make a mistake, live with it. In casual games, sure, but I really don't know why this feature even exists for rated.
The take back is only in online chess but in offline chess if you ask the opponent the opponent will sometimes call the arbiter or the opponent will simply decline because i was playing in an offline game and the opponent offered tack back i decline if you even ask a opponent a tack back in an offline game they will simply decline
Turned the option off so I never have to worry about it. We all have the occasional mouse-slip, should even out over time.

In a casual game, sure I'll consider it. Not rated though.
