Why does Lichess chatban people?

"Be nice and courteous to all other players, always." - this is not enough. Someone will always misunderstand and report you. The only safe method not to get chatbanned is not post anything except "hello" or "gg"
There is no reason to appeal cause the ban is short and does not prevent you from playing chess; I wish sometimes that I could turn off tournament chat completely, but it reappears after a game is over and provokes me to type something.

PS: It is possible to "toggle chat". Did not notice it before.

There are still some fine adjustments to be made ... (translated by google from Swiss-German thinking)
We all see that certain rules are required for fair cooperation and, unfortunately, certain measures are required to enforce them. But just banning players indefinitely is too high a penalty. Lichess should clearly state that you are chat banned for this specific time. Otherwise, the punishment is also a little psychological torture - to be at all times uncertain whether the punishment will ever end and the guilt will be paid. - I am not talking about an account that is new and simply makes a new one - also not that it isn't clear that certain measures are necessary - but there are players who collect all their passion and experience over several years in their account and then be chat banned because of a border crossing. These people understand that they have broken the rules and no longer have to bear the harsh consequences of not being able to talk to their friends in chat - but the additional pain and a very small but significant torture - not knowing how long the punishment will last - All those Players who pay or paid enough for their fault they do suffer every day very hard not knowing when or if it will end...
Not recognizing this important point and changing it, I consider a major omission of the management of Lichess, who is so fairly oriented. .... If you punish people for being fair, the punishment must also be as fair as possible. - I hope Lichess will adjust that little big point. Thanks for reading and go trough it from different sights - Dimitri
#12: Totally agree. We are in a sense, in "Lichess' house"; they have honored our request to be here under certain rules, and have every right to kick anyone out for any reason, or no reason at all. You don't have the right to be here; being here is a privilege.
