Hello everyone, new to this website! I'm looking for people to play against who can tell me ways to get better other than practice, which I know takes time on the board. I've played before, but I never looked into the game. So, I started watching videos and tournaments to learn more about the history and how it should be played, and now I'm a bit hooked. If anyone has time to help me figure out how to properly play chess, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you all for your time!

Getting "Hooked" "Loving Chess" is half of it ... There are Chess Books that are entertaining , there are Chess Books that are instructional, Playing Chess & Learning from mistakes/Analysis & there are Chess Videos , collections of games of great players past present & computers as well also puzzles studies problems & there is a Chess Goddess named Caissia that if you catch a glimpse of even for mere moments at times you might smile inside your Soul & Mind forevermore'

Build starting from fundamentals. Then, play and build on those fundamentals as you get better.

"Chess Fundamentals" by Jose Capablanca is a great place to start.
