Yup
Too bad your opponent didn't give you the chance to play it
Same here
@BlindfoldedNewbie
In the second game the smothered mate wouldn't have worked, as the queen on d8 is protecting g8.
It would have been better to just take the queen after Nf7+.
@Nihongo-san
I agree that the position given is not smothered mate, but after Nf7+, Nh6+ is best because after Kh8, queen takes queen is mating - and after ng8, the most efficient mate is nf7#, which is smothered mate
(i.e. 26.Nh6+ Kh8 27.Qxd8 Ng8 28.Nf7# is smothered mate)
@Nihongo-san the queen is protecting also f7 and knight g8...hahahah nothing...like not said
So true, It was not smothered mate, but almost and
Its good to create complications, there is also queenxd8
Ne8, and stop calculating there
Yes its mate, I saw the post above right now
Its backrank mate I think
I think have good tactics compared to other stuff
I have not made a long analysis or Stockfish, but It might
have been better that move than the fork after all,
anyway both are winning but its good to try to learn something
Perhaps its forced mate, king h8 picks the queen with the queen, yeah better to look at the board than to write.
I guess the hypothetical question is that u can miss a queen
to try to checkmate maybe that was the Case.
❤❤
A newbie mistake could be to pick the queen with the knight and u lose the queen as well, otherwise the
Tactic could continue.
However I think its good play as well, I was gonna play that, it picks the rook later
Maybe something like that:
