Personally I dont suprised. Typical reaction for russian - is he gm or no. Putins popularity in russia are INCREASED as war began.
Russia learn nothing, understand nothing, it issue more threat about nuclear war - check last speech of lavrov. russia is cancer of mankind.
As for me, enough ""innocent russian" crap. Anyoone, who as Kasparov, dont declare his position against putins fashism, against war (bla-bla like "I for peace and for all good" is not enough, it is crap too), should feel youself on wrong side. May be, ban on lichess will help gm karjakin to feel that. I dont sure, though, but may be

Right, the shortest way to resolve a problem is escalation, not de-escalation.

I disagree with #4. Even though Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine, it does not signify that there is no rationale behind the invasion. The reason behind the invasion is clearly to ensure that the West and NATO doesn’t gain a strategic advantage over Russia first by placing military installations in Ukraine. Of course, Putin should have executed his endeavors more diplomatically and this war was certainly not a last resort, but #4s comment about the invasion having “no reason” behind it only demonstrates #4s lack of full comprehension in regard to this political crisis. Nothing is black or white, even in the case of an unjust war which should be condemned.
There was simply no intention tp place military installaions in the Ukraine. For the next 2 decades it was rather sure that the Ukraine had no option to enter the NATO. That only now has schgnaged. If the Ukraine surive this as a state and would like to enter The NATO - how could that be refused?
There were no agression from NATO against Russia, simply because of the fact that with an agression is nothing to win and anything to loose. It is for nny Nation - how mighty they ever get - impossible to wage war upon Russia cause of their nuclear weapons. And as a said - for what reason? There is nothing to win. Gas, oil and coal in the past was simple to get and much, much cheaper than with any agression against Russia.
So this is evil andd mean prppaganda what you tell. And China refuses any intervention in the souverinty of any stae as far as i know. With good reason.

In view of their support & justification of Putin's War against Ukraine, a sovereign country, i would like to know if there is a way to start a petition to ban GM Sergey Karjakin & GM Sergey Shipov aka GM Crest64 on lichess?
As the world watches how Putin is committing War Crimes with a unjust War against Ukraine, i find it would be at least worth to ponder the thought of banning those who not only stand behind a man who committs war crimes but also actively cheer those atrocities!
I hope & would love to think that such a display of malingant charakter has no place on lichess, hence my request to at least give this a thought or two.
First improve ur grammar please, before talking about this thing. Crest64 is an innocent player. What offence has he done?

@TjoffenPD
Cancel culture is disreputable because it tries to silence politically unfashionable views that ought to have a place in legitimate discourse.
I think openly supporting a despot's brutal invasion of a sovereign nation that was not threatening anyone is quite different; it is supporting the slaughter of innocents, the destruction of a country, and the shattering of any basis of world order.
Most of your analogies are specious because they concern past events. We aren't asking that every national pass a stringent morality test by denouncing all historical perceived crimes by their nation. In fact, nobody here is even demanding that Russian nationals need to denounce Putin's war in order to qualify for membership. Just don't fucking defend it in public.

You already lost your silly argument when all you have is to resort to a ad hominem attack on supposed grammatical errors in my writing! Despite that your very own grammer is much worse! But to use such a silly argument to defend the supposed innocence of Sergey Shipov makes you look like a fool!
FYI English is not my mothertongue. It is merely one of the 7 languages i am capable of speaking, reading and writing.
Furthermore i typed this on my mobile, which is prone to typos, especially when you switch languages!
As for his offences, you can & should investigate it yourself, instead of making silly excuses and launch ridiculous attacks on my english grammar.
Thank you for your valuable input!

Don't be angry. But I check my sentences when I write. Pls calm down.
Oh, gosh, many more errors!
But wait, what's the point of shouting??

Do you have any rationale arguments or not, except for personal attacks? No?
Please refrain then, as it makes you look like a foolish, childish troll!

I'm not making a political statement in this thread.
On a technical note, as this thread is about taking a poll of sorts, I happen to have an app that lets you create a straw poll, where votes can be cast with your lichess identity. I have popular apps related to lichess, but this one for some reason never took off.
By default all straw poll issues are listed, but you can link a single issue and show this to users without pollution of unrelated issues.
You are allowed to cast several votes for the same answer, if you feel strongly about an issue. The app lets you know about both total vote count and unique vote count. All voters are shown by their lichess username, together with their individual vote count.
