Ingredients:
Dry:

Wet:

• 3⁄4 cup whole milk
• 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional:

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Line or grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix 3⁄4 cup milk with 1 tsp vinegar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, combine melted butter, the milk-vinegar mixture, and vanilla extract.
  5. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool before slicing
