It's a toss-up between the Hunger Games trilogy and Ready, Player One.

I desperately wanted to love those books, but flat characterizations, poor prose, and a hamfisted plot just made me irrationally angry that I pushed through to the end of both.

They aren't the worst books I've ever read, but certainly the worst I've read in recent memory.
