Yesterday Lichess banned my brother's account for cheating. So far so good you would say and in general I would say the same but the problem is that he really doesn't know how to use engine. Yesterday I showed him for the first time what the computer evaluations mean (+0.3 or -3 doesn't mean anything for him). He plays purely for fun and is totally frustrated because of the ban. Lichess just told him that their algorithm detected that he cheats and that's it. No further information, no nothing. I know that cheating is a big problem but we have to do better. We can't just ban accounts on random.
I am very disappointed. Apparently nobody is safe and your account can get banned for no reason what so ever...

I don't think lichess bans people for fun, there has to be another reason.

Tell your brother to appeal using the correct channel: https://lichess.org/page/appeal
The cheat algorithm isn't 100% correct, it does make mistakes, after all it's just a computer program.
Good luck.

He did but the answer was- our algorithm detected that you cheated. So nobody is safe... cheater or not.

@Wandergang
Welp, false positives do happen. But lichess is improving their algorithm. Did he appeal?

winning appeals against bans can be tough but possible , to have been banned for cheating your brother must have played a brilliant game of chess ,
So taking this into account , has your brother got a chess coach or is he a member of a chess club ?(not online chess club but chess federation club ie otb)
if so, then approach the coach or club chairman / treasurer / secretary . team captain , to write in an appeal with their knowledge of your brothers ability in the game
, these independent witnesses can carry alot of weight in getting bans re looked at , and may lead to that ban being lifted

Please tell your brother to use https://lichess.org/appeal and don't bring this to forums.
If your brother's appeal was rejected, then it's rejected, and your brother cheated.
