They will close this thread soon enough, don't worry A_01.
If anyone comments on it enough times they will close it. I mean it doesn't matter than 100% of people posting here are in support of tpr. No one's like, "Yeah that guy really got to me I'm glad he's gone." Every single person has said the opposite. So -- what does that matte to them? Quite obviously, nothing at all. And they keep saying these things over and over, "It's our policy never to discuss."
"What we do behind closed doors is none of your business." Etc. etc., and they think it's a good thing somehow and defending their actions makes it okay. It's quite obviously not a good thing.
If even one person says they think they did the right thing chatbanning tpr or whatever you call it, I would be tremendously surprised.

I think everyone needs to be less biased here.
Seems everyone is like "tpr is really helpful therefore tpr couldn't have messed up and did something that tpr shouldn't have"
tpr is a really great poster but that does not make tpr immune to mistakes.
If tpr has done something wrong that is worth a chat-ban then there is nothing we can or should do.
I do think tpr has LIKELY not done anything wrong.
But how should we know?
As the mod already said they do not discuss this in public.
So there will not come more out of this discussion than people getting there emotions and thoughts out and being told by a mod that they will not discuss it here.
I expect that this thread will likely be closed soon but I just wanted to say this.
My thoughts.
(Expecting a million dislikes)

Lichess shows time and time again that freedom of speech doesn’t exist on this site. I also was chat banned for a time for doing absolutely nothing. It’s just shameful.

Well I know of tpr and can't believe this. He/She is a key member of the lichess forum community and has posted so many constructive messages. What could cause this? It causes worry.

@somethingpretentious You misunderstand the concerns of the commenters here. This thread is not really about tpr. Reading between the lines, this thread is really about the implications of the fact that the most reliable, consistently courteous and helpful member of the community seems to have been very abruptly chatbanned.
If even tpr is chatbanned, what does that mean for everyone else? Can the moderation team still be trusted? If you claim the answer is yes, then what reassurance can you provide?
We trusted tpr, and he never let us down, so far as we can tell (and it's quite easy to tell because his posts are visible on his profile page). You stand in opposition to him, and therefore in opposition to the trust of the community on your website. That's not a good look.

Counterpoint to no. 44:
I have expressed some pretty controversial views on this site-- I'd wager that I am more controversial than most forum posters-- and I have not once been chatbanned.
In my six years on lichess, I have had the following moderator actions used against me:
- Received a warning for a self-deprecative pejorative
- Once got timed out of a chat for a few minutes for quoting the theme from "Shaft"

If you were in a situation like this and everyone’s telling you stuff and making random theorys would you like it?
This conversation is only between tpr and Lichess.
Respect other people’s privacy.

@MrCorrespondence.
100% correct.
Lets stop minding ourselves in others business

@MrCorrespondence If I was in the position of having built-up a healthy reputation of helpfulness within an online community over a period of many years, and then being chatbanned for reasons that I think are unjust (see tpr's posts on his profile page: "I did nothing wrong."), then would I like it if a bunch of people inquired on my behalf and jumped to my defence?
Yes. Yes I would.
