Which song is most melancholic ever?

. . . not 'sorrowful', not 'dreadful', not 'deceived' ...

... exactly 'melancholic'

Well, there's a song that goes like: Do do do da da de do ooh do do da dum be la de ah.

"Je Partirai" by Hoshi. Most of her songs are about really serious, difficult, and melancholic topics, but it's sung with such power, that honestly, it goes to the heart.

Is there an English version? Cause it sounds really cool the but the downside is that I can’t understand a word

...also this very moment i remember
Adriano Celentano - il tempo se ne va
but next to Satie even this loses intensity

@DuMussDieUhrDruecken

Hier Encore
Charles Aznavour

I first heard the English " Yesterday When I Was Young "

Really does capture the feelings of lost youth,regret for opportunities gone by and a longing for better choices better made.

Cool song. I thought the intro sounded interesting (especially the last two bars) so I transcribed it:

You'll note that we start with a Gb perfect 5th (really a major triad if we include the Bb) then an F major 6th and an Eb perfect octave, but then in the last two bars we have a Cb minor 3rd (or augmented 2nd). You're probably expecting an Eb rather than a Db which is why I chose to write it as a minor 3rd with an Ebb instead of a D natural. What's interesting is that there is no Ebb in the key signature which is what gives it that unusual sound which made me want to analyze it further in the first place.

Also the rhythm is interesting too. At first I thought there was a pickup measure of 1 or 3 eighth notes, but then I realized that there is no pickup measure and the quarter notes actually fall on the off beat which is what gives it that syncopated sound.

Actually it probably makes a bit more sense to write it in the key of F# major, because then we can write the minor 3rd in the last two bars as a B minor 3rd with a D natural instead of an Ebb:
