What if you are able to ban 10 things in the world

Thanks to @checker99 for knowing what cigarettes are. Also, you guys are pretty selfish and naive in banning things.

@PrimalPotatoMine Well except for the ones that arent serious:

Banning any kind of attitude will limit the sense of what being human is. Whatever you ban will just not happen any more, and despite greed, narcissism, jealousy, discrimination, and other attitudes being harmful to others and yourself, part of what makes us human is our mistakes and our inability to see perfectly. So it’s naive to ban anything that affects people’s character.

It’s also naive to ban things that you can’t see the full consequences of. For example, banning all diseases. The poster of that one acknowledged that it might have harmful effects, but eliminating all human sickness will not have a positive impact in the world. It might seem great, but like many other things, it’s just a small patch in a pool with too many holes to count.

There isn’t so much selfishness, more self centered ness. Except for jokes, most people aren’t posting things that will only benefit them or a small group around them. However, they aren’t able to see past what’s been defined as good for them. So banning war, poverty, global warming, disease, all come back to the fear of death and even though they will affect many more people, the people who try to stop them usually fear them more than they despise them. Maybe I’m reading too much into responses, but thats my perspective.

@wolfCR so we should stop funding research against cancer, AIDS and covid because it all amounts to fear of the death?

And being unperfect is desirable because that's what we already are?

@FC-in-the-UK
Trying to prevent something is different than banning it or making it instantly stop existing. What I’m saying is that none of the changes these people are suggesting will have a positive impact.

"Also, you guys are pretty selfish and naive in banning things."

So, to be clear, your position is that banning things is bad and, er, should be banned.

#49 Agreed its just ewwww. If I made a law on it it would be depending on how many brownies, 10 or more brownie slices with snuck in vegetables = death sentence less than 10 = life in prison with no possibility of parole

(jk)
