I think it was at the reptile house i visited in Miami when I was a kid. You could put change in a machine to receive a new reptile or dinosaur model made fresh from a plastic mold machine. I don't remember if hippo was a selection, but they would have been very cool. Those plastic reptiles were prized like Hot Wheels cars.
