There IS some concern, @BrokenJester ....

But let us take heart in the number of youngsters who are playing and even studying chess.

That's got to be a countervailing "good sign," I think. Or, rather, I hope.

Surely, the youngsters on Lichess are among the best of their peers.

And nobody should respond "that's what I'm afraid of."

Thinking back, I'm not sure any generation was shown to best advantage while it was still young. There were plenty of silly boomers "back in the day." They didn't necessarily stay silly.

The passage of time tends to smooth out many wrinkles before it begins to create new ones.
