This Week So Far (America)

In the middle of all this chaos, I missed one. I bet this one is more well known in Indian news right now than America.

*Beheading of Indian man*
- Yep, you read that right, beheading.
- The Cuban who killed him was actually rejected by his home country due to his long past of criminal acts.
- Chandra Nagamallaiah, originally from Karnataka, was killed in front of his wife and son. He was the owner of Downtown Suites and was attacked over a broken washing machine.
- "CCTV footage of the incident that has gone viral showed Cobos-Martinez chasing Nagamallaiah in the motel corridor, even as the latter screams and his family rushes and tries to rescue him. Cobos-Martinez, however, pushes her away and beheads Nagamallaiah. When Nagamallaiah's wife continues to stop the accused, the latter advances menacingly towards her, prompting the woman's son to drag her away. Another footage showed the accused kicking the severed head like a football, walking towards it, picking it up and then taking it to the dumpster." -NDTV
- And what was all this about? The poor man got someone to translate that a washing machine was broken. Apparently, not speaking to someone directly deserves a machete to the head.
- Read the full story for yourself, it is quite gruesome: www.google.com/amp/s/www.ndtv.com/world-news/us-motel-staff-yordanis-cobos-martinez-who-beheaded-indian-karnataka-manager-dallas-was-lawbreaker-but-freed-congressman-ro-khanna-9268719/amp/1

I know there are many of you from Karnataka on here, since I've seen all the cricket posts -- thought you would want to know.

Probably because he may have been from Karnataka but the beheading was in the US so maybe Indian media was a bit more apathetic on international as opposed to domestic affairs.

I just opened Youtube and found the above video on my FYP.
It appears I left out something else as well.

*Decarlos Brown Jr.*
- He stabbed a Ukranian girl on the train.
- "Zarutska had been living in a bomb shelter in Ukraine before coming to to the US to escape the war, according to relatives, who described her as determined to build a safer life.
Video released on Friday shows Zarutska entering a light-rail train on 22 August and taking a seat in front of Brown, who was seated behind her. Minutes later, without any apparent interaction, he pulled out a pocketknife, stood and slashed her in the neck, investigators said. Passengers screamed and scattered as she collapsed." (The Guardian)
- Bystanders did nothing until she collapsed. Before that, there was no action taken, nothing done to prevent her death.
- If the claim that he shouted "I got that white girl" is true, this is a very clear example of hate crime.
- Again, just like the Cuban national that beheaded the Indian man, he had a huge criminal past. Why was he allowed on the streets? Why was he not behind bars??

> -Much of the liberal rhetoric is based off of being the person on the moral high ground, yet the moment that is put to the test, nobody is following up. Tolerance, kindness, forgiveness. Those are qualities often preached about on the left.

Are you aware the same thing can be said of the persons bringing their faith publicly? Are you sure they're not on the moral high ground? Not sure they're all liberals. Neither they're doing well when what they preach is put to test.

I have read comments here last week that clearly shows all life are not equal coming from persons who at least pretend to go to Church.

What I was taught in my childhood was not telling me you shall not kill unless the victims of your violence is an "illegal" immigrant, a drug smuggler or a political opponent. Did I miss something important???

Police Service and Justice System are there for prevention and punishment. Not politicians and political activists.

What I read here from too many let me think they think otherwise. And they're not all from the left or right.

> - Free speech is free speech. America is not meant to be an echo chamber and I sure hope it never will be. What sets us apart from other nations is the ability to recognize that all people have the right to their own personal worldview without going on witch hunts all the time.
This statement becomes less true every passing day.

> - I find all the celebration about his death online disturbing. It just rubs me the wrong way.
> - Do you not see the problem in glorifying his death? He is already being made a MAGA martyr (which I find interesting considering his adamancy over the Epstein files). All these posts are just making more political unrest while justifying his current "martyr" status. Much of the liberal rhetoric is based off of being the person on the moral high ground, yet the moment that is put to the test, nobody is following up. Tolerance, kindness, forgiveness.
> - Another thing: free speech does not mean you have to personally agree with and/or respect everything. Nor does it mean that social media sites are not allowed to censor. BUT it does mean that the government cannot censor you unless you are making an incitement to violence, or creating things such as terrorist threats. And that's why I don't believe in the whole witch hunt and doxxing people over making comments on Kirk's death that's being sponsored by the Florida Department of Education.
Both the right and the left have become completely sick of each other. The left fails to understand why the right would vote for Trump, currently worried about Trump's authoritarian control of government, and believes Trump to be a pedophile, while the right doesn't care as much about Trump's authoritarian control of government, doesn't believe Trump to be a pedophile, and supports the tariffs. The left and the right also severely disagree about the current state of affairs.

@notsoneutral I immediately follow it up by condemning those who choose to go on a witch hunt against anybody that celebrated his death, so your question is already answered there. I don't believe governments have the right to break the First Amendment just because they were friends with the guy who died.

Yes, both the right and the left claim moral high ground. But one key difference is the right will never claim tolerance while that is a key point of the left. Such an iconic speaking point not being put into action? Hmm.

i am neither left or rigtht ig
but my understanding is: tolerating goes only so far , u cant tolerate those who will not tolerate anyone else for they would use the them given tolerance to do whatever they like
