I often use humor to get people to think about what they say or write; does it really mean something, or does it just sound good?

As for quotes, I don't really get the point of using them sans context. "Questions are a burden, and answers are a prison for oneself" doesn't really hit home without a question (ironically).
I always enjoy the “I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly” zinger from Winston Churchill. Is it particularly deep? Not really. But it's damn funny.

#13: Believe it or not, that quote's from an Iron Maiden song ("Back to the VIllage, which was either on "Number of the Beast" or "Powerslave"). Those guys are a weirdly philosophical bunch.
