I'm pretty much right with you on all of those. Vietnam war news, I was a slow learner when I was a wee kid. For a year I thought guerilla fighters were gorilla fighters. For real.
My next door neighbor had cable in '78. I thought they were the Jetsons.

Also kent State,watergate the breakup of the beatles,roller rinks( i got pretty good,i could skate backwards. Long bike rides just exploring. It was really a good time to be a kid. The main rule was be home by dark.
The first sound system I bought as a teen had an 8-track tape player. That was mistake #1. The first and only tape I ever bought was Sweet's 'Desolation Boulevard'. That was mistake #2. I stuck with record albums after that.

Its regional and requires some context, but the main point is that if say, the group of family or friends sends some one to buy something and that person pockets the change, we would say, "That guy is like Mejia Baron"
The context.
Miguel Mejia Baron was the DT of the national Mexican football team in 1994.
In the knock offs, Mexico tied 1-1 against Bulgaria, but the DT did not make any substitution (Hence, he kept the change(s)).
The tied remained, and at the end, the team lost in penalty kicks.
