the 4 player chess , and vote chess , is a good feature of cc as is lichess with its simuls , but the paying bit isnt as strict as you think , many have years long accounts at cc without ever putting their hands in their pockets so it is possible to go cc and it not cost you a penny

now ads , well yeah they are a pain but adblocker can solve that
the time taking waiting for a game , can stretch from here to eternity (ie a minute) , and that isnt fast enough lol , but it does give you time to pop the kettle on
but its all irrelevant as all chess sites just want you to have fun playing chess , and whats so wrong with that ?

Because we shouldn't have to pay to play chess...

it is not a negative to try and fail it is perhaps the positive spur to doing better next time
