lichess.org

The user interface is light years ahead of the others.

Much better tournament format.

Very few "bugs" compared to the others.

Lichess

The chessdotcom is chaotically layed out, it’s distracting unless you pay, there are too many pop ups

The tournaments are a pain in the butt and I get limits on my puzzles

Sure chessdotcom has more features and more variants but frankly half of them take up unnecessary space. Chessdotcom can afford to waste space because they make income off adds and subscriptions while Lichess runs on donations only.

The fact that Lichess has technically narrower capabilities means that they must do everything really well and not have any waste.

When I’m on chessdotcom I feel like I have mostly mediocre content barfed onto my screen in a pretty unorganized way that increases the addictiveness of it.

With Lichess everything is pretty simple and clear. If I want to go play a tournament I click, if I wanna play a lobby game I click.

I love that absolutely no one here is even mentioning chesskid. Because it’s designed for young kids there are very few good players, and you can’t even play variants or make custom time controls. I’d say lichess is best because I prefer the UI, but with premium chess.com definitely has more features.
