Let’s count backwards!

1000
999.99

That should do it
(LOL, I know it won't)

erm, actually, there are an uncountably infinite amount of real numbers between 1 and 1000, so we can never reach 1

You make a good point, but I would like to point out that to go from 1000 to 999.99 and 999.99 to 999.98 is a finite amount (we're going down by 0.01). To reach 999 from 1000 by consistently deducting 0.01, it would take approximately 100 deductions since 0.01100=1, and 1000-1=999. To go from 1000 to 1, we'd need to subtract 1 (I think) 999 times. 999100=99900. Since 99900 is a finite number, we will eventually reach 1 after 99900 threads, assuming everyone only says 1 number at a time. So we could theoretically reach 1, it may just take a very long time.

@Haii_3 You're right, I was just joking lol. My point was if we were to count all real numbers from 10000 to 1 we would never reach 1. But this isn't all real numbers.

The OP didn't even tell us to stop at 1. I guess we could go to negative infinity...
