Good compared to what?
Compared to digging a hole in the hot sun? Absolutely.
Compared to living in the White House with a beautiful ex-model? Well, chess might come in second to that.
But, admittedly, it wouldn't be a DISTANT second.
After all, chess IS pretty good in an absolute sense, and Morphy didn't seem to be interested in the presidency.
There are better (more challenging and more rewarding) games out there... even sticking to the field of traditional tabletop perfect information strategy games
chess just got popular so it's kinda mainstream at this point
