I usually only follow people that I like, whether it's a casual game I played with them, or if they're just a nice friend. It's not really satisfying to reach a high number of followers by just begging, but that's just my opinion.

I agree with WallaceTwo. It may be okay when you're first starting out, but as your list of followers grows you begin to lose track of everyone. It gets exhausting sifting through all the names you never talk to (have nothing in common with) to find the ones you really like chatting with.
