Even this show is far from being new, it's getting popularity somehow, and I've just watched it a few months ago, is that a coincidence?

Yes, this animation series is undeniably excellent in its animation production and the creators made great effort to create a great variety of weird characters even involving elements like pixel art and claymation, which seems to me is quite an ambition. I think this can be the main attraction of Gravity Falls.
In season two, the main plot is to uncover the mystery underneath which really got me excited and eager to see the ending. However that turns out to be a fight with the final villain. That's OK, it's just a show for kids and that is what it's supposed to be.

The biggest novelty to me is the character Mabel, in my courtry showing romance between kids is condemned , so this character makes me feel more like a person in real life. In the first episode, the beginning really made me feel it's a little dark especially when Mabel showing her hands with wooden splinters (that illusion didn't last long).

I think maybe it's not a proper place for spoiler, so I try not to talk about concrete plots and here's some of my impressions on its style:
*There are frequent jokes told by TV emissions' titles.
*Something irrelevant mentioned before can be the final solution to the trouble.
*There are combination episodes consisting of several small stories.
*There are French and Spanish but there is no real French anyway (as for its Spanish I don't know).

Unfortunately, its story is not satisfactory for serious audience. Never expect a full and convincing explaination nor any non-childish lesson to learn from and just watch it as a pure pastime.
Even though, it can be still greatly improved by stopping D&M doing apparently stupid things to get themselves into trouble. They can win by strategies and wisdom rather than luck or kidlike determination.
