I said it was "nearly" a half century, friend.

It's within 50 - 46 = 4, which is quickly determined to be within 4 x 100 /50 = 8 percent.

Which, of course, suggests that it is 100 - 8 = 92 percent of the coveted half-century.

And 92 percent is at least an A- in my book.

So it would appear -- whether or not we might mark the topic as a personal "favorite" -- that the original poster managed to invoke some substantial interest -- sufficient, at least, to keep this thread going for a creditable, if not record-setting, time.

And, by the way, The Onion has often been very witty, although I confess that I haven't read it for quite some time, Unfortunately. I take it, then, that it's still going?

Incidentally, in my preceding post I was using the word "century" with artistic license -- much as we sometimes call a 100-mile bike tour a "century" even though a bike tour is not, itself, an aggregation of 100 calendar years, typically.

Wouldn't it be great if we COULD bicycle tour for 100 years? Wow. Let's hope medical science keeps advancing at a rate that will someday make such lengthy bicycle tours a possibility if not a commonplace.
