Ethics of Shadow Banning

@Sarg0n It is not very surprising that a German should hold such views when your country commonly practices jailing people for having "offensive" opinions... 😉
Technically, lichess doesn't make it so that you can't communicate with other users, it just sends you to a place where you can only communicate with other banned playersI don't think that it's very ethical, but I can't see any other solution that is better. The biggest problem I have with it is that the shadow-realm is not moderated (to my knowledge), and if a kid gets shadowbanned (e.g. for spamming, for example) , the language used by those who got banned for being offensive could be inappropriate.

BTW, @Vertonghen , you misused "irony." A common mistake, but one that irks me immensely.
I mean shadow-banning is not the last measure lichess can undertake. In some cases the just closed the accounts.
How could you tell if they are shadow banned or lichess closed there accounts do you know something?
I'm not sure why is it an ethical question. People run this site, they can do whatever they want. There's nothing unethical or immoral in doing anything here, unless it affects something outside the site itself (eg, doxing).
