Now that I think about it my pet is probably going to out live me. I need to set up a trust for his care after I die.

Well, you can choose to put your rock in a cave, on Mars (but it's a bit more expensive), or you can entrust it to a larger rock that won't will move a lot for centuries.

I have a fossilized Tabulata coral as a pet. Don't know the exact age but about 380 million years.
However, it is, lets say, a bit unresponsive when I pet it.
