Debate: should recycling be mandatory?

Recycling should be mandatory because it is good for the planet. For example, when we recycle, it can be reused, and we wont have to worry about animals suffering with that plastic. Sometimes, those animals eat that plastic. Then, we eat those animals. That plastic is still stuck in that animal.(note: if u want me to cite my sources, it is from my knowledge).

Then, think about what will happen to us?

What if they make the packaging so that we can toss everything in the bin? I don't think humans are suitable to do recycling, that's a robot's job.

For years I collected all my pizza boxes, only to discover that they are actually not allowed in the paper recycling, because of the grease which harms the process. So all that effort and I only made it worse. Many people can't even read, how will they learn what goes where when there are dozens of kinds of waste and all kinds of exceptions and ins and outs? With plastics it's even more complicated. And then there's all the many exceptions to what will and what won't go in the glass container.

How much plastic do we need to give every person on earth the standard plastic five bin recycling station? I believe recycling to be very useful, so everyone who can should do it, but it requires so much knowledge and organization that for billions of people struggling daily to make ends meet, the illiterate and so on, even if you make it mandatory it will still be too difficult to get the results we need which is to completely change the kind of waste we make, instead of trying to process the miserable packaging that the industry refuses to improve.

We should be using a lot more glass again - It's infinitely recyclable.

Indeed yes, it's ridiculous, even those plastic milk carton lids are not recyclable. :).

Recycling is fake. There is no such thing as sustainability through recycling, and I believe that the increased pollution from transport and infrastructure for recycling is even worse. Plastic should be banned for everything that is non-critical. Do kids NEED that plastic Barbie? No. Does Joe Average NEED to buy a 5 dollar reusable plastic bottle that will break in 4 months because it's cheaper than the 15$ all stainless steel one that may last a lifetime? No.
A ban on plastic is better for sustainability and better for the average person, who will be forced to make better decision for long-term savings too.
Obviously military, medical, and manufacturing should still be able to use plastic, because harming our own economy will just put plastic pollutors at an economic advantage.

Either stop using petrol to produce plastic or stop producing plastic period if you want to save the environment.
