I will dispute that.

If we consider heavy metal to encompass all metal subgenres (Metallica's thrash), and if we look at the whole discography (rather than just the first few albums), these 10 are all better:

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Dream Theater
Black Sabbath
Saxon
Megadeth
Dio/Heaven and Hell
Uriah Heap
Motorhead
Satan

That's not counting the bands that had awesome early albums and fizzled (Danzig, Queensryche, Praying Mantis), ones that I've not hear enough of to evaluate them as a whole (Sortilege, Elixir), or the ones that live on the border between rock and metal (Deep Purple, UFO, Thin Lizzy).

Why would we? Metal already encompasses all metal subgenres. Heavy metal should only encompass heavy metal.

Fair enough-- I'll swap in Accept and Savatage for Dream Theater and Megadeth
Interesting album, their second. They departed their straight ahead backbeat sound of their former drummer, John Rutsey, began transforming into more progressive/prog style with Neil Peart.

I saw Yngwie about 2 years ago. Had to leave early because he had like 4 warm-up bands and only got on the stage at 11:30

I like his Flamenco Diablo.
