In my experience, self-proclaimed intellectuals tend to be the most insufferable humans in existence who make it their life's mission to condescend and patronize. Funny how it works cuz it's genuinely not that hard to make friends with people and discuss deep topics if you find someone who's interested and actually stay open-minded instead of bringing up that one IQ test score you got back 20 years ago.
On the other hand, the most intelligent people I have met are extremely down-to-earth and approachable. Because...well...they have the intelligence to realize that the behavior above is pretty insane.
Or I dunno. Maybe it's cuz I'm usually the idiot in the conversation ;)
