Andrei Babitsky has died

Andrei Babitsky, an opposition journalist who supported the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, has died.
"I have an exceptionally special relationship with Crimea. We have a house there. My wife is a native of the Crimea, and her parents, former military men, still live there. We go there every summer for a vacation. So I know that most of the population of Crimea has always perceived Ukraine as a foreign state. Crimeans have never felt at home in it. They were irritated by the Ukrainization policy. The Ukrainian language was imposed on them instead of Russian, etc. This is not a problem of recent months. To varying degrees, all this has been going on for more than 20 years. From the moment when Ukraine became independent, Kyiv has been pursuing an incorrect national policy towards minorities, primarily the Russian. During this time, a huge resentment has accumulated in people, a sharp feeling of injustice, infringement and fear has appeared that will be even worse."

2014 crimea annexed, 2016 those laws came... for a long time visitor this Andrei Babitsky doesnt seem very well informed. and no wonder hes dead, he seems to be living in dog years if 2016 until whenever that quote was said is 20 years.

So, by this logic, the United Stated has to annexate my house, because I speak English :)

I am not surprised by your joy at the death of an enemy. Data for 1897, for which territory were collected? The Russian Empire contributed to the widespread dissemination of the Russian language. The British, Spanish and Portuguese empires spread English, Spanish and Portuguese respectively. Do you propose to return to the situation in the sphere of distribution of these languages to the state before colonization? People currently living in the Crimea decide for themselves which years are considered dog years.

Why not? If these territories once belonged to the United States and the inhabitants of these territories wished? What happened to the Maldives?
