idk what it does and why lichess asks me to do it, is it anything important cuz i wanna know what it is

It helps prevent unauthorized access to your Lichess account.
Imagine if someone, human or BOT learns your Lichess password, and decides to access your account, the two factor authentication require them to also have access to the APP on your phone, which generates a secondary random password.

Basically, if you active it, you get 2 passwords. One which is your normal password, the other is random computer generated, that will be sent to whichever app you use for the two factor authentication.

So if you for example play on a public computer, and the computer memorize all passwords, this prevents someone to lock in, unless they also have access to your phone.
