Transferring FEN data for "play from position"

I'm not sure if this is more of a feature request or a bug report because I'm not sure what the intended functionality is. However, I just noticed earlier today that when you take a position from a game and create a new game with play from this position, none of the FEN data from that position comes with it, the position itself becomes move 1. This makes computer analysis impossible, it seems, as SF doesn't want to analyze the game from a move 1 that begins with pieces not at their starting position.

Is there a way we can have it so that the FEN data for the first x moves comes along with the position, maybe as an option? Like "play from this position" and then in the selection of white, black, etc. a check-box for "keep original game FEN data up to this position?"

I don't think this could happen - FEN is just a way of saving a positin, not a game - that's what PGN is for - so there woild need to be a PGN with it as well for analysis to work

Well ok, so I mixed up my terms. Whatever. Point being when you "play from position" you only get the position, none of the moves that led to that position, so computer analysis from that point is not possible.

SF is perfectly capable of analysing positions as well as whole games - lichess doesn't analyse games from position because that'd be too intensive on the server with the amount of requests for position analysis that'd come in.

right...hence why if you could bring the PGN from the original game with it up to that position, and play from there, it would be able to analyze the whole game not just the position... Hence why I'm asking is it possible to have a feature where we can check a box to bring the whole game up to that position rather than just opening a FEN from that position? Or is that opening a can of worms I'm not aware of?

(I suppose to be fair I could just grab the PGN fro the new game and analyze it in chessbase with Fritz or whatever engine I want...so I suppose maybe this idea is pretty low on the priority list, since it'd just be a convenience thing. Maybe not even worth it.)
