Thought I had time to switch computers...

In the past, I have been able to start a game on my desktop, and then move to my other computer (once I realize there is some kind of distraction I want to leave, etc.). I thought it would let me rejoin, but I instantly forfeited when I left?! Isn't there a countdown timer, especially at this time control?

I mean to say that if my opponent leaves a game, I usually have 30 seconds to wait to accept victory, even in a blitz game. 23 doesn't seem to meet that, and this is a rapid game. I tried to see the game pop up when I logged in on my other device and it didn't, so I came back and it said I lost.

The amount of time is per game and depends on the time control. Maybe you were disconnected before during this game?

I switch between devices regularly without any problem - though I usually connect to the new one first, and later switch off the other one.

the amount of time you get also depends on whether you closed the window/app. afaik lichess interprets a closed window as a rage quit and shortens the time.
