Option to not let others observe your game

Pretty straight forward. I'd like to turn on a feature that does not permit others to observe my game. I do not trust players who bring in observers to my games, even if it's a coach. I don't want kblitzing.

I can't figure out if "kblitzing" is a typo or a deliberate chess pun on "kibitzing".

I'm not clear how trust comes to play in this. In any case, the desire for something like what you request has been raised numerous times here. For example:

Put simply, Lichess games are public and open to all. And that's that. The reasons for Lichess's name are very much in this spirit. See https://lichess.org/faq#name. So if you want to play here, I think you'll just have to live with any "kblitzing".

They can be public after the game. They don't need to be public during.

Also your links include you fighting this -- seems like you have quite an obsessive position on this.

You could conceivably set things up this way. But after people have repeatedly requested such a feature (or similar) it hasn't happened. Again, this appears to be at least in part due to the why Lichess is called "Lichess" thing. You're asking for a less open environment which in general pushes against the Lichess ethos. Also there's the fact that many users value the ability to view games live and the ability to do so can help establish that everything is fair and legit. It's all open for all to see.

In addition to being irrelevant to sorting out this issue, the "obsessive position" claim isn't at all accurate. In one post I make a follow-up joke that doesn't have anything to do about being on one side or the other and merely notes the irony in the OP drawing unwanted attention to themselves. In the other, I questioned how the OP knew somebody was watching their games only to see them lose. I wanted to better understand their concerns. I appreciated their informative reply and had nothing more to add. These two comments of mine are neither obsessive nor express a position.

To be clear, I appreciate wanting to play games in total or more privacy. I just don't think it is consistent with the ideals Lichess espouses nor some of its concerns. Pragmatically speaking, I see your situation as either find a way to work with it or find a place that better suits your needs if you can.

Thanks to zen mode, I have no idea who is watching my game (or if anyone at all). And if there is some discussion in the game chat, I like to go through it after the game; it's interesting to see how it felt from the viewpoint of someone not directly involved.

Don't forget that what you propose would one player give the power to disallow viewers while the other would have no say, whatever he/she thinks about it. That's probably what I dislike most about the proposal. Personally, I don't like even the recent change that disallows watching live games of people who blocked you.

I also dislike the idea of not being able to watch games of someone who blocked you at the time they are playing. Many people block other people at the drop of a hat for no good reason. But I do appreciate the reasoning behind it, which is: some people have trouble with another individual stalking them, and having all their games obsessively observed by that individual is a form of stalking.

It's a very difficult issue.
