I am a fan of tags. And I like bookmarks. I use them to find stuff.
On lichess I use bookmarks for two reasons:
1.) to mark games I find interesting,
2.) to mark sample games of masters whose opening ideas I found interesting and wanna revisit at some point.
My use case 1:
Say I know I bookmarked a game between two masters a long time ago.
I remember the first few moves of that game.
I might even remember one of the two player names or I might not.
But I have 500+ bookmarks.
How can I find that game reasonably quickly?

The Advanced Search function doesn't seem to help here or I am using it wrong.
And I cannot scroll down for hours.
My current "solution" looks like this:
Whenever I bookmark a game on lichess I also bookmark it in the webbrowser and write the name of the opening as a tag.
So I can find the lichess game in the webbrowser. This works fairly well but
- works only since the time I started this workaround (older lichess bookmarks are "lost in the dark")
- doesn't work too well with move order transitions
- works very poorly for rare opening names that I cannot remember
This morning under the shower I had the idea of an option to add
a personal tab of indexed bookmarked games in the lichess database browser.
It currently has 3 tabs:
"masters", "lichess", and "player".
With a 4th tab or such a game list browser specifically for "bookmarked games"
I would be able to find my game literally within seconds.
Even if I have hundreds or a few thousand of bookmarked games,
after filtering them down to 5 moves played only 10 or 20 might remain e.g.
And they would nicely pop up in the list of "top games" or "recent games" below the current filter.

Of course I understand this feature would mainly be used by intermediate and advanced players.
And many players might not use bookmarks at all,
or really only use like 10 bookmarks when finding a specific bookmark is not an issue.
I also understand lichess' database features are generally not intended to replace big chess database programs with many more filtering options.
And sometimes a user might not remember the opening of a game, then this will not help to find it.
However, somehow I feel among intermediate and advanced players many might enjoy this feature, just to find games they previously found important.
Use case 1: find a specific bookmarked game where the starting moves are known (I assume advanced players remember the opening of such games in 95%+ of cases)
Use case 2:
previously: whenever we found an interesting idea within an opening of a game in the masters database "by accident", we can bookmark it to study it later when there will be more time.
now: want to study certain opening with ideas we previously stumbled on.
--> filter bookmarks and quickly find a small number of different previously bookmarked master games in that opening, ready to be studied.
Perhaps I missed an obvious existing solution for these use-cases.
Besides the webbrowser bookmarking with tags that has certain limitations when it comes to chess, or a separate chess database software when I would need to export the bookmarked games.
Happy to read any suggestions.
