One-sided computer analysis

Hello everyone,

I just ran into a problem with the analysis board: I wanted to analyse a game I played against a stronger opponent and I wanted to do so without engine help, to get a better understanding where I could have gone better.

The problem is that my opponent looked over the game too, hit the "request computer analysis" button, and the results were also immediately visible on my end. I understand that the analysis board for a game is public but I am still kinda miffed that that happened.

I think a better UX design choice would have been if a computer analysis became available, that there would be an extra dialogue button to explicitly ask permission to show it to avoid such situations.

I also only learned afterwards that you can turn off the engine altogether but that option is tugged away in the settings menu, and since I was so focused on the game I did not think to disable it sooner (or become aware of it at all).

Note that for toggling the engine data on and off there is even a keyboard short cut: just hit the "z" key. (Admittedly, the keyboard shortcut only works, well, on devices with a keyboard.)

I am not saying that this wouldn't be good from a "chess learning perspective" - but I am not sure it would be a popular choice... would it be worth another setting? This might need to be discussed.
